Three-time Emmy© Award winning actress and a fierce advocate for the female voice in film and television, Cady McClain's award-winning feature documentary on female directors, Seeing is Believing: Women Direct, won multiple festival awards including the Audience Award at the SOHO Film Festival. The film opened for Oscar-Winning "Nomadland" (directed by Chloe Zhou) at the ArenaCinelounge - Los Angeles in March 2021.
McClain was honored to receive the International Matrix Award from the Association of Women in Communications for her work related to the film. It is now available on regional PBS stations such as KVCR PBS Empire in Los Angeles and WHUT - Howard University, as well as on the educational platform Kanopy.
Her short doc on foster girls, Burnt Feathers, Broken Wings, screened at the NYWIFT (New York Women in Film and Television) members screening March 25th, 2021. The film won Best Social Justice Film at the 2020 Santa Fe Film Festival and Best Documentary Short at the Mystic Film Festival and can now be seen on IndieFlix.
McClain has two Emmy© nominations for her work on the team directing Season 5 of the LGBTQ series Venice the Series.
She is proud to have produced the narrative feature Angie: Lost Girls which won the Best Social Justice Film Award at the Raindance Film Festival in 2021.
She is currently an Ambassador for The Chimaera Project and a Creative Partner for the US Coalition on Sustainability. Attached to direct the feature film Paint Made Flesh - the adapted screenplay (written by McClain and playwright Howard Meyer) earned a place as a quarterfinalist at the BlueCat Screenplay competition.
She is a 9th generation Californian married to writer/actor/director Jon Lindstrom.
